What is the story about?
According to Kojima Productions, the show tells a new story set in the Death Stranding world, separate from the games. It follows a young man and a young woman on an adventure, and features several North American characters, including an old man looking for salvation outside the connection promoted by Sam Bridges, a female warrior, a boy who resents Bridges, and a girl who embraces loneliness. Anime News Network places the story in North America, right after Sam reconnects the continent through the Chiral Network. Early reports differed on whether the series would be part of the games’ canon, so treat the official wording as the safe version: a separate story in the same universe.
This is a different project from the animated film Death Stranding Mosquito and from the live-action film in development, so do not confuse the three.
