Quick answer: The Beginning After the End manhwa goes on indefinite hiatus after chapter 259, releasing on October 29, 2026, because its platform Tapas is shutting down (service ends March 31, 2027). It is not cancelled, but author TurtleMe says he does not know yet where the comic will continue.
One of the biggest fantasy webcomics, often called Solo Leveling’s main rival, is pausing for reasons that have nothing to do with the story. Here is what happened.
Why is TBATE going on hiatus?
Kakao Entertainment announced in September 2026 that it would close Tapas, its North American comics platform. Tapas has since confirmed that the service ends on March 31, 2027, and it is closing its original productions, including The Beginning After the End.
What did TurtleMe say?
In a statement on X on October 22, 2026, TurtleMe announced the hiatus after chapter 259 and said he does not have answers yet about what comes next, adding that he is working on it.
Will The Beginning After the End come back?
Most likely, yes, but not soon. The comic could move to another platform or publisher once Kakao decides what happens to Tapas’ library. The situation is unlikely to be resolved before 2027. Meanwhile, the original web novel and the anime adaptation are unaffected.
